  3.      AWARDED. To seven former inmates of the Attica, N.Y.,
  4. Correctional Facility, or their families; $1.3 million in damages
  5. for injuries sustained in the violent suppression of a prison riot
  6. in 1971; by the New York State Court of Claims in Albany. Governor
  7. Nelson Rockefeller, who ordered the police assault on the prison
  8. that resulted in the deaths of 29 inmates and ten prison guards and
  9. civilian workers, called the killings "justifiable homicide."
